About
Filipina watercolor artist inspired by the natural beauty of the DC area
Born in the Philippines, and a long-time resident of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Ronie Nieva is a watercolor artist who draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the Washington DC region. Her landscape paintings reflect local images from Rock Creek Park, the C and O canal, Brookside and Kenilworth Gardens. Other paintings reflect scenes and memories from travels in Hawaii, Italy and other parts of the world.
Ronie started her more recent artistic explorations as part of creating life's third stage, post retirement from a professional life as a social scientist and manager. She is delighted to make more room for her creative right brain, balancing decades of analytical left brain work. Ronie is inspired by the spirit of Grandma Moses, who began painting in earnest at 78, reaching her artistic peak late in life.
Ronie has exhibited her paintings in various local art venues.
